CRM® EQUUS

Combining CRM® with the Healing Presence of Horses

CRM® EQUUS

Robust Re-Sourcing for Re-connection

Research shows that both CRM® and equine-assisted therapy are powerful tools for healing, with each approach facilitating neurobiological, neurochemical, and emotional safety. When these two modalities are combined as CRM® EQUUS, their transformative potential is significantly amplified beyond using them separately.

The presence of horses alongside the CRM® process creates robust, multi-faceted layers of resourcing that allows for full embodiment and transformation of the deepest roots of trauma. CRM® EQUUS is a profound catalyst, helping people move beyond personal and collective limitations—toward a life of abundance, stability, and joy.

CRM® EQUUS is provided in-person in Pennsylvania or as Equine-guided Life Coaching in Colorado for: Individuals (including adolescents), Couples, and Corporate clients through our non-profit and for-profit programs. The Equine work can be done locally, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly or in an intensive format of 4-6 days.

THE FOCUS of OUR WORK

We are dedicated to helping all horses and humans in need. CRM® EQUUS offers a safe system of healing that transforms post-traumatic stress, unresolved generational trauma and subsequent disconnection from ourselves, community and our planet.

Our work is administered through three central pillars of healing:

Equine Lineage

The physical/emotional rehabilitation and spiritual restoration of horses that have experienced trauma throughout their lives.

Human Lineage

The treatment of post-traumatic stress, attachment trauma, and dissociation for clients through equine-partnered offerings that utilize CRM®.

Ancestral & Collective Lineages

Offering a safe, integrated approach to healing individual, ancestral & collective trauma for horses and humans.

“I had a rare and precious opportunity to take part in a recent Heal the Healer intensive with Lisa in Beulah, CO. My experience over these four days was nothing short of mind blowing. It left me with a fresh and potent appreciation of the power of the CRM model to access & heal subconscious roots of trauma so deeply hidden & tenaciously guarded that I may well have carried these 'secrets' to my grave, without Lisa's help. This included not only the fundamental disconnection from source which manifested in the pain of attachment disruption I carried, but a complex, tangled web of victim-perpetration looping that spanned multiple timelines and dimensions.

Yet what made this intensive experience really special was that two of our CRM processing sessions took place in the middle of a paddock surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, assisted by two horses - Karl & TJ - who would actively participate in the healing work. On more than one occasion I would hit a point of stuckness, and when I was finally honest enough to let my defenses step aside, they would suddenly come close to me showing their care and affection. And so the CRM attachment resourcing took on a whole new level of potency where we could tangibly feel their fur brush up against our bodies, smell their smell and feel their hearts reach out to us when we needed it the most.

Coming out of this intensive, I have noticed a major softening of the baseline fear & guardedness I have always carried, as well as greater clarity, okayness and freedom to make good choices rather than being ruled by the unhealed rubble in my subconscious mind. I truly know this is the best investment I could have ever made for my own healing and for my capacity to heal others in my professional role.”

We Prioritize Consent & Choice

Within their very nature, horses are healers. However, we will not allow their partnership in therapeutic contexts to be another form of use and abuse. We are dedicated to ensuring the horses that come into our care receive the highest level of respect and support in their physical, emotional and spiritual healing before, during, and after they enter the work with clients.

CRM® EQUUS holds primary the trauma history and consent of the horse. We incorporate guidelines developed by Sarah Schlote into our conceptualization and practice. We hold deep appreciation for the way in which she clearly supports and articulates how to work with horses in a manner that offers them the same level of safety and avoidance of re-traumatization as is provided for the humans we assist.

MEET the heart OF OUR TEAM

As part of our Equine Care & Rehabilitation Program, in October of 2023, we chose to adopt two thoroughbreds, who were discarded when their racing careers came to an end.

After: Rasha, June 2024

This is Paranoia (her racing name), and the condition she was in the day we brought her into our lives. She is a registered 10 year old Thoroughbred, and a direct descendant of legendary Triple Crown winners Secretariat and Seattle Slew, and the prolific Alydar. Paranoia was raced consistently in Florida, New York and Pennsylvania from 2017 through 2022, winning high stakes races often. Her value – primarily as a commodity to generate income and prestige for her human owners because of her illustrious blood lines and athletic abilities – catalyzed a life of wounding and instability; in effect compromising a joyful connection to others, human or equine. She was sold 13 times in those 6 years.

  • Her gentle sweetness is palpable despite the inherently traumatic experiences of a racing life, while her authentic, firey nature is finally encouraged to just Be. Undoubtedly, she is on her path to healing; being set free through this year of rehabilitation and TLC, while growing into her chosen “barn name” of Rasha. She is already willing to connect authentically with humans, and the exchange of healing energy between us. She has stepped into her true personality and power with the herd she is now a part of, and has become one of Lisa's most wrathfully compassionate healers and teachers throughout her own personal "inner" work.

After: Archo, June 2024

A registered Thoroughbred, this is Archo. Archo, also 10 years old, raced under the name Shower the People. He worked on the track for 6 years, also winning for his owners and sold to us directly from the track stable in October of 2023 immediately after indicating that he no longer had the heart for racing. Throughout his first 9 years of life, he was out of a stall and experienced grazing in a pasture for one month. Otherwise his existence was either racing or living in a stall. He was presented and sold to us in a significantly drugged state which camouflaged his baseline condition of fear and high anxiety as well as significantly deteriorated hoof health.

  • Over this last year he has blossomed into a kind, playful, big-hearted boy whose desire to please and bring true joy to all he meets is his true nature. He is a favorite in the barn with humans and horses alike, and we honor his blacksmith, Chris Calcek, for his extraordinary patience, kindness, and creativity in facilitating seemingly miraculous hoof and leg healing.

Being with Archo, you can feel the depth of his wholehearted presence and deep connection to our hearts. Archo is still learning his way in the “real world” but already loves to run free in the pastures each morning and to spend the days with the herd. He is our "sweet brown bear" and is a natural healer in his own right.
